How do we place value on our sensory experiences?
As a PhD candidate in Dr. Benjamin Arenkiel's Lab at Baylor College of Medicine, I have the opportunity to work across a dynamic environment with cutting edge technology to study neural circuits critical to feeding behaviors. One of the foundations of the lab is to understand how different brain regions contribute to feeding beyond the homeostatic needs. Over the past 6 years, my time in the lab has revealed the prefrontal cortex as a prime candidate to understand how values placed on odors may impact food choices in mice.
